Revell 05458 1/96 H.M.S. Beagle
H.M.S. Beagle was a 10-gun brig of the Royal Navy, launched in 1820.
It is most famous for its second voyage from 1831 to 1836, during which naturalist Charles Darwin was on board.
Commanded by Captain Robert FitzRoy, this expedition surveyed the coasts of South America and conducted numerous scientific observations.
Darwin’s observations and collections during this voyage significantly influenced his formulation of the theory of evolution by natural selection.
The journey of the H.M.S. Beagle is a pivotal moment in the history of science, contributing greatly to our understanding of natural history and the development of evolutionary biology.
