Wrightbus New Routemaster Arriva London, LTZ 1716, Route 59, ‘Release the Kraken’, dual destination

Introduced in 1999 and providing service between Streatham Hill and Euston, route 59 is contracted to Arriva, and remains in operation. Endingat Russell Square via Brixton, the route provides vital service to Kings Cross and Waterloo.

With a fleet of 26, the New London Routemaster was introduced to the route in 2016, with door modifications made in 2020 to deter fare evasion. Spread across five vehicles, Kraken Rum’s advertising campaign saw Routemasters adorned with and ‘crushed’ by the creature.
