In the bright yellow British Rail livery this 1:76 scale Ford Transit Mk 2, registered A831 SGB from 1983. Black masking enhances the rear wheel arches with additional black finish to bumpers, petrol cap, inner wheel bosses, radiator grille and grille surround. The interior is also moulded completely in black apart from the interior door panel inserts which are bright yellow. Black British Rail wording is printed on the offside rear door and again on the side panels of the van but here it is enhanced with the red British Rail Double Arrow of the period. The blue and silver Ford badge is printed on the radiator grille between the square headlights and again at the bottom of the offside rear door. The Ford Transit story spans a period from 1965 to the present day and during that time, it has undergone upgrades, modifications, a wide range of body styles to accommodate multi-purpose usage as well as the benefit of Ford’s extensive custom plan. Oxford’s Mk 2 Ford Transit is based on the upgraded model which first appeared in 1977 and remained in production until 1985. It featured a longer nose section and accommodated a new A-line engine. In 1984, this generation also received a minor face-lift with a plastic front grille and integrated headlamp surrounds, wrap round indicators and longer bumper end caps. Multifunction rear lights now incorporated fog indicators, reversing and side lights.
